The SDLP spokesperson for Regional Development Conall McDevitt MLA has criticised Minister Conor Murphy for failing to promote sustainable transport after it was revealed that the number of single occupancy journeys by car has increased by 13 million from 2006 to 2008. The Minister also reported an increase according to the most recent figures produced in 2007 which revealed an overall rise of around 19% in journey times on key transport corridors, confirming a rise in car ownership and people taking to their cars. more »
